Everything to Expect in the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid

Exciting Early Release Announcement

An early holiday gift arrived for Subaru fans when the automaker announced that the long-anticipated Forester Hybrid will arrive in 2025 rather than 2026. The all-new 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid will feature an exciting, fuel-efficient e-Boxer powertrain that has become a popular choice for European Subaru owners. Soon, drivers in the United States will be able to enjoy the fuel-efficient and symmetrical all-wheel drive powertrain. Around San Diego and Chula Vista, you can reserve your 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid at Dalton Subaru.

The Series-Parallel Hybrid System

Subaru has announced that the Forester Hybrid and Crosstrek Hybrid will share a “series-parallel” hybrid powertrain that alternates between the gas-powered engine and a pair of electric motors. In typical Subaru style, the gas-powered engine will be a 2.5-liter flat-four Boxer engine.

One electric motor will serve as the generator for the 1.1-kWh battery, and the other will power the wheels. The engine that drives the wheels delivers 118 horsepower. The non-hybrid Forester with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 180 horsepower, so the combined power in the Forester Hybrid should have pep that could surprise loyal Subaru drivers. The hybrid power could give the Forester more torque, making it even more effective on dirt and off-road trails.

Subaru claims that the Crosstrek Hybrid with the new “series-parallel” system has a fuel economy that is 20 percent better than the European hybrid system.

Expected Safety & Interior Features

Subaru redesigned the Forester for 2025, and all trims are well-equipped, so it’s safe to say that the hybrid version will be, too. The standard EyeSight driver-assistance features in the Base trim include Evasive-Steering Assist, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane-Centering Assist, Lane-Departure Warning and Assist, Pedestrian Detection, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Drivers have to move to the Premium trim to get the full-size 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This trim also features wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and several USB ports.

Of course, the Subaru Forester Hybrid will have seating for five and up to 75 cubic feet of cargo space. The rear seats fold flat, and the wide liftgate makes it easy to load cargo into the rear.
