What comes first with buying a Subaru in National City?
Crosstrek, Forester and Outback are all here in National City. The difference between them is size, from compact to family to long-legged for the freeway. A short drive in two of them settles it faster than any brochure.
We tell you what your current car is worth and whether you can buy in one visit on a Sunday. Your appraisal and the whole written agreement reach you before you drive across the county.
Book ahead and we confirm the car is on the lot and have it out front when you arrive.

How does a visit to Dalton Subaru go?
Step 1: Start with what the car has to do for you
How many seats you need, what has to go in the back and how long your drive is.
Step 2: Line up financing from home
Our finance team works with a range of lenders, and your application is answered before you drive to the Mile of Cars.
Step 3: Choose two candidates from the models below
Two is the right number to drive back to back in one visit.
Step 4: Take both over your own roads
Time behind the wheel tells you what the figures leave out.
Step 5: Have the paperwork emailed to you
Read it at home, so nothing on the desk is new when you arrive.
Step 6: Ask about service and the warranty at the desk
Ask now what the service schedule holds and what the warranty covers, and the car is looked after from delivery.
Come and see us on the Mile of Cars.
Bring the family down to 2829 National City Blvd on a Sunday, and the two Subarus you named are out front.
Take your time on the drive, then come back and try the other. We serve National City, Chula Vista, San Diego, Bonita, Imperial Beach and El Cajon, and the coffee is on either way.
Where to find us
What do San Diego drivers ask us about buying a Subaru in National City?
Which Subaru should I buy?
Start with how much room you need and where you drive, and the range sorts itself.
- The Impreza is the compact car, the lowest step into Subaru all-wheel drive at a normal ride height.
- The Crosstrek is small enough for National City parking and lifted enough for a dirt road.
- The Forester is the tall compact SUV with the headroom, the glass and the easy view out. The Outback has the longest load floor and is the calmest on the freeway.
- The Ascent seats seven, the Solterra runs on electricity, and the WRX and the BRZ are the ones you buy to drive.
Tell us who rides with you and how far, and we will have the two that fit ready to sit in.
What will this cost me a month?
We put the whole agreement in front of you in writing, and three running items sit beside it.
- Our finance office takes your application to a range of lenders and brings back what each one will do.
- Insurance is monthly too, so get the quote on the exact trim you are buying.
- All-wheel drive wears all four tires evenly, so they are replaced together as a set.
Ask us for the whole agreement in writing before you decide, and we will go through each line with you.
What is my current car worth?
Your trade is half of the deal, so we give you its figure on its own, in writing.
- Value it online before you visit, so you have a range to judge our offer against.
- Ask for the appraisal on its own, and the Subaru on its own. Both are written down separately.
- Bring the service history. On a Subaru a complete record moves the number more than mileage does.
The online figure is a starting point. Once we have seen the car, we put the real number in writing.
Is a certified used Subaru worth the extra?
Certified adds a full inspection and a longer powertrain warranty.
- Every certified Subaru passes a 152-point inspection before it can be sold as certified.
- The powertrain warranty runs 7 years or 100,000 miles from the original in-service date, backed by Subaru.
- Roadside assistance comes with the certification, 24 hours a day.
Ask us for the in-service date on the car you like and we will tell you how much of the seven years is left.
How long is the Subaru warranty?
Two warranties run side by side, and each covers a different part of the car.
- The basic limited warranty covers the whole car for 3 years or 36,000 miles.
- The powertrain warranty covers the engine and driveline for 5 years or 60,000 miles.
- On a used Subaru, the remaining coverage carries over, counted from the day the car was first sold.
On a used car, ask us for the original in-service date. That is the day the coverage counts from, and we will read what remains.
Why should I buy from you?
The name on the building changed, and the store and the people stayed the same.
- We were Frank Subaru and we are now Dalton Subaru, the same business under a new name.
- The long-serving team came through the rename, so ask for anyone by name.
- We hold a 4.7-star Google rating.
We are on the Mile of Cars at 2829 National City Blvd, with our two sister stores on the same boulevard.

See what is on the lotWhat does buying a Subaru in National City involve?
1. Which Subaru fits what you need?
| Model | What it is | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Impreza | Compact car with standard all-wheel drive | You park on the street, you commute on the 5, and you want all-wheel drive in a compact car. |
| Crosstrek | Compact crossover, 8.7 inches of ground clearance | You want a higher seat and easy parking during the week, and a trailhead on Saturday. |
| Forester | Tall compact SUV | Your family wants headroom, wide doors for the car seats and a clear view out in freeway traffic. |
| Outback | Midsize wagon | You carry boards, bikes or long loads, and you spend real time on the freeway. |
| Ascent | Three-row SUV, tows 5,000 pounds | You have a family of six or seven, or a boat to take down to the bay. |
| Solterra | Electric SUV with standard all-wheel drive | You can charge at home, and your daily route around San Diego County is a regular one. |
| WRX and BRZ | Performance sedan and rear-drive sports coupe | You drive for the pleasure of it, and the road up to the mountains is your idea of a Sunday. |
Every Subaru except the BRZ drives all four wheels, so the choice between them is size and shape, not capability. The Crosstrek suits street parking, and the Forester suits car seats and a dog. The Outback is the long load, the Ascent is the third row, and the Solterra is the electric one with the same all-wheel drive.
Trim changes comfort more than it changes what the car can do, with one exception. A Crosstrek Wilderness is rated to tow 3,500 pounds against 1,500 for the other Crosstrek trims, so if you tow, choose the model first and treat the trim as the towing decision. Bring the trailer's loaded weight and tongue weight and we check them against the payload sticker on the door jamb.
Every new, used and certified Subaru is at the same address, so drive a shortlist back to back in one trip instead of spending a Saturday between lots. Tell us the two or three you are weighing and we have them out front when you arrive.

2. Subaru warranty coverage
| Coverage | Term | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 3 years or 36,000 miles | The whole car, from the day it was first sold. |
| Powertrain | 5 years or 60,000 miles | Engine, transmission and the all-wheel-drive system. |
| Certified pre-owned powertrain | 7 years or 100,000 miles | From the original in-service date, on cars that pass certification. |
| On any used Subaru | Whatever remains | Counted from the in-service date, not from your purchase date. |
Two terms run from the day a Subaru was first sold, and certification extends the longer one from that same original date.
That start date is why the model year alone does not tell you what a used Subaru is worth. Two three-year-old Outbacks can carry different amounts of coverage depending on when each first went into service. Certification takes the powertrain term from five years to seven, counted from that same date.
On any used Subaru, ask us for the in-service date first and we read the remaining coverage off the VIN. Ask to see the certified and the plain used car side by side, and we will read out what each one still carries.

3. Subaru certified pre-owned versus used
| What certification adds | The standard | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 152-point inspection | Anything below Subaru's standard is repaired or replaced before sale | You know the car has been checked point by point. |
| Powertrain coverage | 7 years or 100,000 miles, factory backed | Against 5 years or 60,000 on a new car. |
| Roadside assistance | 24/7, included | Useful on the 5 and the 805. |
| The car itself | Stock, clean title, recalls closed | A performance modification rules a car out. |
The certified premium buys three concrete things. The 152-point inspection with anything failing repaired before sale, the 7-year or 100,000-mile powertrain term, and 24/7 roadside assistance. A certified car also arrives with every open recall closed and the next service done if it was close.
We have both kinds here, so you can put a certified Forester next to a regular used one. The inspection and the coverage are part of what a certified car is. For the household's main car, certified gives you the longest powertrain coverage.
Ask us for the original in-service date on any certified car before you decide. The 7 years count from that date, so a car certified at three years old has four years left, and that is what certification is giving you on the specific car.

4. Dalton Subaru hours and the fastest way to buy
| Department | Hours | What that means for your visit |
|---|---|---|
| Sales, Monday to Saturday | 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM | An evening drive after work, a signature the next day. |
| Sales, Sunday | 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM | A weekend visit with the whole family. |
| Service | Opens 7:00 AM on weekdays | First cars in are first cars out. |
Sales runs to 8:00 PM six days a week and 6:00 PM on Sunday, so you can buy a Subaru outside your working day. The fastest route is an evening test drive and a next-day signature, with a night of sleep between the two.
For the quickest visit, pre-qualify online, confirm the exact car by phone and we have it out front. We can settle the figures by phone too, if that is easier.
Service starts early, so the car can be in the lane before your commute. Once you own the car, that is the visit that keeps it on the Subaru schedule.

5. Three Dalton stores on the Mile of Cars
| Store | Where | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Dalton Subaru | 2829 National City Blvd | This store. |
| Dalton Hyundai | 3150 National City Blvd | About a fifth of a mile up the street. |
| Dalton Toyota | 2400 National City Blvd | Further along National City Blvd. |
| All three | Same owner, separate stock | We confirm which store holds the car before you drive over. |
Three Dalton stores sit on one street on the Mile of Cars, a short walk apart, under one owner with one standard. Drive the Forester here, and the people who run the group are a few doors away if you have a question about anything.
If your trade suits one of the other two stores better, it can go there, and that sometimes raises what we can offer you. Ask about it at the desk.

6. About Dalton Subaru in National City
| About the store | The detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| The name | Formerly Frank Subaru, now Dalton Subaru | Same dealership and the same long-serving team, under a newer name. |
| Google rating | 4.7 stars | What our customers say about us on Google. |
| What we do | Factory-authorized sales, warranty and recall work, genuine parts, the certified program | Run to Subaru's standard. |
| Where | 2829 National City Blvd, on the Mile of Cars | Minutes from the bay, an hour from the Lagunas. |
We are a factory-authorized Subaru dealership on the National City dealer row. Our service bays see Subarus all day, every day, and that experience goes into every car we look after.
The name changed from Frank Subaru to Dalton Subaru. The building, the service bays and the people you dealt with before are the same ones you deal with now.
We are minutes from the bay, where salt air is part of owning a car, and an hour from the Lagunas, where the snow is what Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive was built for. We serve both ends of that week.
7. Why buy a Subaru
| Feature | On a Subaru | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| All-wheel drive | Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard on most 2026 models | Traction on every drive, with nothing to switch on. |
| Driver assistance | EyeSight standard on most trims | Built in, with nothing to add to the order. |
| Ground clearance | 8.7 inches, 9.3 on Wilderness trims | Enough for a dirt road or a wet launch ramp. |
| Resale value | The Guaranteed Trade-In Program for eight years | Subaru of America backs your trade-in value on a published schedule. |
| Seven seats and towing | The Ascent, rated to 5,000 pounds properly equipped | Most boats and small trailers. |
A Subaru wins on standard all-wheel drive and on a trade-in value that Subaru of America stands behind. EyeSight and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive come standard on most trims, so the first car in the range has them.
The real test is your own week. If it takes you off the pavement, the all-wheel drive and the clearance are the reason to buy one. If it is entirely the 5 and the 805 in traffic, the Crosstrek Hybrid or Forester Hybrid is the one to drive first. If you tow, the Ascent covers 5,000 pounds.
Comparisons depend on the specific models and trims you are weighing. Bring your shortlist and we check it against the actual cars on the lot.

8. Subaru financing and what our finance office does
| What we do | When | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Take your pre-qualification | Before you visit | You arrive knowing where you stand, and the desk work on the day is shorter. |
| Work a range of lenders | Once we have your application | We take it to more than one and come back with what each will do. |
| Set the agreement out in writing | Before anything is signed | Your trade sits on its own line and accessories on theirs. |
| Read it through with you | At the desk | We go line by line and answer the questions before you sign. |
Our finance office is part of this store. We set the options side by side so you can choose the one that suits your household.
Insurance is the one piece you arrange yourself. A WRX and a Crosstrek rate differently with an insurer, so quote the exact trim. Bring the policy details, and the Subaru goes home the same day.

9. Trade in your car and the Subaru Guaranteed Trade-In Program
| Step | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ask for the Guaranteed Trade-In figure | If you own a Subaru, before the appraisal | Subaru of America guarantees your trade-in value for the first eight years, on a published schedule. |
| Value the car online | Before the visit, for any other make | A figure to test the offer against. |
| Bring the paperwork | To the appraisal | Service records, both keys, the title or the payoff details. |
| Ask for two written figures | At the desk | The trade allowance and the Subaru, each written on its own line. |
If you already drive a Subaru, ask for the Guaranteed Trade-In figure before the appraisal. It is the minimum if your car meets the program terms, which cover ownership, mileage, condition and maintenance records, and the appraisal then has a real number to beat. For any other make, value the car online before you come in so you arrive with a range.
Bring the service history, both keys and the title or the payoff details. We quote the trade allowance and the Subaru separately and in writing, so you can read each one on its own.
A bayside car with the salt rinsed off underneath and a full service history appraises well. An underbody rinse after a beach day takes five minutes and keeps it that way.

10. Owning a Subaru near San Diego Bay
| Local factor | What it does to a Subaru | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Salt air off the bay | Starts corrosion from the underbody up | Rinse underneath after the beach, and we look under the car at every service. |
| The marine layer | Loads the cabin filter and works the air conditioning | Cabin filter on schedule, every 12 months. |
| The 5 and the 805 in traffic | Where a hybrid saves the most | Drive the Crosstrek or Forester Hybrid first. |
| The Laguna Mountains and the desert | Snow in January, heat and dust in July | X-MODE for the snow, and tires and filters checked after the desert. |
| A trip into Mexico | A U.S. policy generally does not cover you there | Mexican liability insurance every trip, registration in the car. |
A Subaru in National City does easy weekday miles and harder weekend ones. The weekend can be the beach ten minutes away, the Lagunas an hour east with snow on them in January, or the desert beyond, and the car handles all three without changing.
A rinse after the beach and our look underneath at every service keep a bayside Subaru looking like an inland one.
After the mountains, the desert or a trip into Mexico, check the tires for cuts and ask us to look at the filters.
11. What it is like here, in customers' own words
| What people mention | In their words |
|---|---|
| Back here since 2018 | “I’ve had a Crosstrek since 2018, purchased at this dealership. The only reason I keep coming back is the Customer Service Agent, Catherine. She doesn’t hesitate to meet the needs of my car in the most efficient way possible. She provides honest, clear communication, always professional and always kind.” Karen Goodman, 5-star Google review |
| Feeling looked after | “I purchased my Outback over 7 years ago here and have been taking my car there for services ever since. They have very friendly and helpful service providers. Thank you Catherine and the whole team of service technicians.” Linda Mucho, 5-star Google review |

12. The first month with a new Subaru
| When | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Day one | Check the paperwork matches the car | Match the VIN and the trim on the contract to the car in your driveway. |
| First week | Run the VIN for open recalls | We do it with you, because a campaign can open on a car that was clear at sale. |
| First week | Drive it on every kind of road once | Highway, stop-start, air conditioning on full. That is how you learn the car. |
| First month | Start the service file | A complete history is what the Guaranteed Trade-In Program asks you to keep. |
You get to know a new Subaru in its first month. Check the paperwork against the car on day one, run the VIN for recalls in the first week and drive it over the highway and through stop-start traffic at least once. Anything that shows up inside the basic warranty is ours to fix.
Learn what EyeSight is telling you in the first week. Once you have seen the alerts in traffic, they become second nature.
Start the service file in the first month. Every visit here goes on the VIN automatically, and a complete history is what protects your standing under the Guaranteed Trade-In Program when you come back for the next one.

Buying a Subaru questions, answered
Financing and payment
What does a 2026 Crosstrek cost at Dalton Subaru National City?
Crosstrek trims run from the Base up to the Limited Hybrid, and the trim you pick accounts for most of the difference from one car to the next. Tell us the trim and the options you want, and we will put everything for that exact car in writing before you come in, with your trade appraised separately.
Buying and test drives
What engines does the 2026 Crosstrek offer?
For 2026, the Crosstrek dropped the old 2.0L. Every gas trim now uses a single 180-hp 2.5-liter boxer, and the new Crosstrek Hybrid pairs that boxer with electric motors for 194 horsepower and around 600 miles of range per tank. All come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and 8.7 inches of ground clearance (9.3 inches on Wilderness).
Is the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid worth it over the gas model?
It comes down to your miles. If you cover a lot of them, the Hybrid's fuel economy and its range of close to 600 miles are what you feel every week. If your week is shorter, or you want the most cargo room, the gas 2.5-liter suits you. We will put the EPA figures for both in front of you and you can drive them back to back.
Is the 2026 Crosstrek good for San Diego driving?
For most local drivers, yes. Standard all-wheel drive and 8.7 inches of clearance handle the occasional run to the mountains or the desert. The Hybrid keeps a high-mileage freeway commute affordable, while the gas Wilderness, at 9.3 inches of clearance and 3,500 pounds of towing, is the pick for trails and trailers.
Warranty and coverage
Does the 2026 Crosstrek come with a warranty?
New Subarus carry a 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. On a used 2026 Crosstrek, ask us how much of that original coverage remains, since it runs from the in-service date.
About the dealership
Where is Dalton Subaru National City located?
Find us at 2829 National City Blvd, National City, CA 91950, on the National City Mile of Cars, a few doors from Dalton Hyundai and Dalton Toyota. Book a Crosstrek test drive through our contact page.
How long do Subarus stay on the road?
Of the Subarus sold in the last ten years, 96 percent are still on the road today, and 94 percent of Imprezas. Standard all-wheel drive, a maintenance schedule that is easy to keep and a service department that sees nothing but Subarus are what sit behind a figure like that.
Does Subaru come with all-wheel drive standard?
Symmetrical all-wheel drive is standard equipment on most Subaru models, across the lineup and not on a chosen few. The BRZ is the exception, so check the specific model with our team.
Is Subaru good for resale value?
Subaru of America backs it directly. The Guaranteed Trade-In Program sets a guaranteed trade-in value for the first eight years you own the car, on a published schedule, so what your Subaru will be worth to us later is written down at the start.
How safe are Subaru vehicles?
Safety results vary by model year and by trim, so the answer that matters is the one for the exact car. Tell us the model you are looking at and we will pull the published rating for that year and trim with you, and show you what EyeSight does on the road on the test drive.
What gas mileage does a 2026 Subaru get?
Fuel economy depends on the model, trim and powertrain. We will give you the official EPA figure for the trim you want.
Where can I compare Subaru models near San Diego?
You can compare the full 2026 Subaru lineup at Dalton Subaru National City, 2829 National City Blvd, National City, CA 91950. We cover Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, Impreza, Ascent, Solterra, BRZ and WRX on dedicated pages. Browse the new-vehicle inventory or reach us through our contact page to start.
What comes standard on a Subaru?
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight driver assistance, standard on most models, with nothing to add to the order for either. Add strong resale value and a safety record, and the case is strongest for buyers who value traction and long ownership.
How do I contact Dalton Subaru National City?
Reach us through our contact page. Sales hours are Monday through Saturday 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We are at 2829 National City Blvd, National City, CA 91950, on the Mile of Cars.
Used and certified pre-owned
Does Dalton Subaru National City sell used Subarus?
Yes. We list standard used Subarus and Subaru Certified Pre-Owned vehicles at 2829 National City Blvd. Inventory changes daily, so the best way to see what is here is to filter the live listings in used inventory, or ask us to send the history report on any specific car.
What is the difference between a used Subaru and a certified one?
A standard used Subaru comes as it is, with any remaining factory coverage still in force. A Subaru Certified Pre-Owned vehicle passes a 152-point inspection and adds a factory-backed 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance on top of that. We will walk you through the full CPO terms on the car.
Are used Subarus reliable?
Subaru's reputation for longevity is a big reason older models still sell well, and a bayside car with the salt rinsed off underneath stays that way. A vehicle's service history is the best predictor of what you will get. We pull the vehicle history report and inspect the AWD driveline on every car.
How do I check a used Subaru for recalls?
We run every VIN for open safety recalls before a car lists, and we will show you the result.
Does a used Subaru still have a warranty?
It depends on age. A recent trade may still carry part of the original 3-year/36,000-mile basic and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage. A certified car adds a 7-year/100,000-mile CPO powertrain warranty. Ask our team what remains on the specific car.
What Subarus are for sale at Dalton Subaru National City?
We stock the full new and pre-owned Subaru lineup, including the 2026 Crosstrek, the 2026 Outback and the Forester, plus certified pre-owned cars. Availability shifts week to week, so filter our live listings or contact us to confirm a specific model, trim or color is in stock.
How much does a Subaru cost here?
It depends on the model, the trim and the options on the car in front of you. Name the Subaru you are weighing and we will set the whole thing out on one sheet, with any accessories listed on their own lines, before you come in.
Which Subaru should I buy?
It depends on how you drive. The 2026 Crosstrek fits tight parking and city commutes, the 2026 Outback maximizes cargo and highway comfort, and the Forester splits the difference with family room and easy parking. Our team will run all three with you, so the choice comes down to which one fits your week.
Do all Subarus come with all-wheel drive?
Nearly all. The BRZ sports car is rear-wheel drive by design, and every other Subaru we sell ships with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Ground clearance and power vary by model, like the Outback's 8.7 inches and 180 hp.
What warranty comes with a new Subaru?
A new Subaru comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, both counted from the day the car is first sold. Bring us the VIN on any Subaru and we will read out what is still in force on it.
What is the main difference between Subaru Limited and Premium?
Premium is the well-equipped middle of the range, with upgraded cloth seats and the core convenience features. Limited adds leather-trimmed upholstery, a power passenger seat, more standard heating and model-specific safety and wheel upgrades. Both have steering-responsive LED headlights and share the same engine on a given model, so ask our team for the exact equipment list.
Does Subaru Limited have more power than Premium?
Premium and Limited use the same engine and drivetrain on any given 2026 Subaru model, so the power is identical. Limited differs in comfort, technology and lighting. Ask us for the exact engine specs by model.
Is Subaru Limited worth the extra cost over Premium?
How you drive decides it. If you spend long hours in the seat and want the leather and the heated rear seats, Limited is the one. If your week is mostly local errands, Premium covers it. Both trims share the same screen and the same driver-assist technology, so what you are choosing between is the upholstery and the seating. We will put both window stickers side by side for you.
Do both trims come with EyeSight and all-wheel drive?
Yes. Across most 2026 Subaru models, both Premium and Limited include standard symmetrical all-wheel drive and the EyeSight driver-assist suite. Limited often layers in additional safety and lighting features. Verify the exact list on the trim you want with our team.
What warranty comes with a new Subaru Limited or Premium?
Every new Subaru carries a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The terms are the same for Premium and Limited. Confirm current coverage with our team at Dalton Subaru National City before you buy.
Which trim should I pick if I tow or haul often?
Premium and Limited tow the same on a given model, but the Wilderness trims are rated higher, so start with the weight you need to pull and pick the trim from there. Ask our team to match the model and trim to your hauling plans.
Which 2026 Subaru models offer both Premium and Limited?
Both trims appear across most of the 2026 lineup, including the Outback, Forester, Crosstrek and Ascent. The names mean the same thing model to model, but the exact equipment changes by vehicle. Please tell us the model, and we will confirm the trims currently on our lot.
How do I compare Premium and Limited at Dalton Subaru National City?
Visit 2829 National City Blvd, National City, CA 91950 or reach us through our contact page. Please tell us the model and the two trims you are deciding between, and our team pulls both window stickers to line up the differences so you pay only for the equipment you will use.
Where can I shop used and CPO Subarus side by side in National City?
At Dalton Subaru National City, 2829 National City Blvd, on the Mile of Cars. The lot carries both used and Subaru Certified Pre-Owned models. Browse our current inventory or call us.
What is the difference between a used and a Certified Pre-Owned Subaru?
A used Subaru is any pre-owned model on the lot. A Subaru CPO vehicle has passed Subaru's 152-point inspection, meets the brand's age and mileage standards, and includes a manufacturer-backed 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty measured from the original in-service date. CPO adds that factory protection on top of the car, and we will walk you through the current program terms.
Does the CPO warranty start when I buy the car?
The 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage is measured from the vehicle's original in-service date, so the clock is already running when you buy. On an older CPO car, part of that window may already be used. We will print the original in-service date for any CPO car so you can see exactly how much coverage is left.
How does a used Subaru hold up in San Diego?
Well. Our coastal, dry climate spares a car the road salt of a salt-belt state. On every trade-in, our techs inspect the interior and weatherstripping, the air conditioning and the cooling system first, and we will show you the maintenance records on any car here.
Can you inspect a used Subaru I am considering from another seller?
Yes. Our service team will run a pre-purchase inspection on any Subaru you are looking at. Call us to set it up.
How do I check a specific model year's safety ratings and fuel economy?
Read the window sticker on the car you like. It carries the fuel economy for that exact car, and ratings and figures change from one model year to the next.
Why buy a used Subaru from Dalton Subaru National City?
We are an established Subaru dealership at 2829 National City Blvd, holding a 4.7-star Google rating. This is the same team local drivers knew as Frank Subaru, now Dalton Subaru, serving National City, Chula Vista and San Diego County.
Can I compare several used Subarus in one visit?
Yes. All used and CPO Subarus are at the same location so that you can drive your shortlist back-to-back in a single trip.
Trade-ins and local ownership
What is the Subaru Guaranteed Trade-In Program?
For the first eight years you own it, Subaru of America guarantees your Subaru's trade-in value on a fixed schedule. Ask us for it before the appraisal.
Can I drive a Subaru into Mexico on my U.S. insurance?
Generally not. Mexican liability insurance is required, so buy it for every trip and keep the registration in the car.
What should I check after a trip to the mountains or the desert?
Check the tires for cuts, inspect the underbody for damage, and ask the service department to check the air and cabin filters.
More buyer questions
What does a Subaru cost to keep on the road?
It is steady and easy to plan. The services are on a published schedule, full-time all-wheel drive wears the tires evenly, and the rotation is the one job to keep up with. Our service desk prints a year of scheduled maintenance for your model when you ask.
Questions about the models
Does Subaru ever offer 0% financing?
Subaru runs national finance programs that change from month to month, and which ones reach a given model depends on the term you choose. Our finance office will tell you what Subaru is running on the car you want on the day you ask, and set each option out side by side so you can choose.
Where is the closest Subaru dealership to San Diego and Chula Vista?
We are on the National City dealer row at 2829 National City Blvd, minutes off I-5 from either direction, so call ahead and we will have the car pulled up before you park.
People also ask
Which Subaru model is the best to buy?
The Forester is the all-around pick for most buyers, with the most usable cargo space among the compact models and the easiest hatch loading. The Crosstrek parks more easily on a National City side street and still clears a dirt road. If you cover long freeway miles or carry more, look at the Outback. Bring what you load, and we will put the hatches side by side.
Is a Subaru Outback or Forester better?
It comes down to whether you value height or length. The Forester is taller and boxier, so it is easier to get into, easier to load bulky things through the hatch and easier to park. The Outback is longer and lower, quieter on the freeway, and better suited to long drives with a full load. We keep both on one lot, so load your own gear into each before you decide.
Which Subaru model has the best reliability record?
Reliability on a used Subaru comes down to the individual car more than to the badge on it. Tell us the model and the year you are looking at, and we will run the VIN for open recalls and pull the service history before you drive it.
What should I know before buying a Subaru?
Standard all-wheel drive comes on every Subaru but the BRZ, and it earns its keep on weekends in the mountains, at a launch ramp or on wet roads. If your week is entirely freeway, the Crosstrek or Forester Hybrid is the one to drive first. Towing tops out at 5,000 pounds with a properly equipped Ascent, which covers most boats and small trailers.
What is the best month to buy a Subaru?
Any month works when the car you want is on the lot. The model-year changeover in late summer and fall puts the outgoing year beside the new one, so you can drive both. Tell us which model you are waiting for and we will tell you when it is due in.
