2023 Subaru Forester
Perfect for weekend errands as well as weekend escapades, the 2023 Subaru Forester is a roomy crossover SUV that can fit the whole family with plenty of room to spare for all of your gear.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Subaru Forester comes in six trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring. The Forester also comes with a range of wheel options, depending on the model selected. Wheel sizes come in 17- or 18-inches and are made of either steel or aluminum alloy. All trims of the Forester, except the Wilderness, boast at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance to help you overcome the obstacles of unforgiving roads. The Wilderness gets an additional 5-inch lift for a total of 9.2 inches of ground clearance.
All models of the 2023 Forester also include LED Steering Responsive Headlights. Additional standard exterior features on the Premium and higher trims include a standard panoramic moonroof and roof rails to make hauling additional cargo or sports equipment that much easier.
Engine (Power)
The 2023 Subaru Forester has plenty of power to get you to less-traveled trails and beyond. It is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine which is capable of producing 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. This engine power allows for 1,500 pounds of max towing on all trims except the Wilderness, which is equipped to tow a maximum of 3,000 pounds. That's plenty of power to haul smaller recreational vehicles, additional cargo, or light trailers.
Performance
With a wealth of standard performance-enhancing features, the 2023 Subaru Forester is well-equipped to handle demanding drives, no matter which trim level you choose. All trims come standard with Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive. Every 2023 Forester trim is also outfitted with a variety of systems and sensors designed to create a feeling of impeccable handling and ride comfort, including Vehicle Dynamics Control, a Traction Control System, Active Torque Vectoring, and Trailer Stability Assist.
With the 2023 Subaru Forester, power and performance don't come at the cost of efficiency. All trims except the Wilderness achieve an EPA-estimated rating of 33/26 miles per gallon on the highway and in the city, respectively.
Interior
Don't let the compact crossover categorization fool you; the 2023 Subaru Forester boasts a spacious interior that provides comfortable seating for up to five occupants and plenty of cargo space. The Base trim features 111.6 cubic feet of passenger volume while the Premium and higher trims offer 107.6 cubic feet. With the seats up, the Base trim has 28.9 cubic feet of rear cargo space and higher trims have 26.9 cubic feet. Putting down the standard 60/40-split flat-folding rear seatbacks more than doubles cargo volume to 74.2 cubic feet on the Base trim or 69.1 cubic feet on higher trims.
Safety Features
All trim levels of the 2023 Subaru Forester include, as standard, Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology which features a pre-collision braking system, pre-collision throttle management, lane departure and sway warning, and advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering. The 2023 Forester has also received a glowing five-star rating for overall safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
